For the twice-exceptional (2e) student, the classroom can be a place of deep frustration. They often possess the intellectual capacity to excel, yet their grades may not reflect their potential due to executive functioning hurdles, sensory overwhelm, or a disconnect with traditional teaching methods.
At Exceptional Like Me, subject tutoring is about more than just content delivery. It is a specialised, one-on-one partnership designed to help neurodivergent learners translate their high-level thinking into academic success - without the cost of burnout.
Traditional tutoring often doubles down on "more of the same" schoolwork. Olivia’s approach is fundamentally different:
We use strategies that work with the student’s profile—leveraging hyper-focus and creative association while providing scaffolding for areas like task initiation and essay structure.
With years of experience teaching and marking Stage 6 English, alongside university-level teaching experience, Olivia understands how to deeply extend students gifted in English and the humanities. She specialises in navigating the specific pressures of senior curriculums and the "hidden curriculum" of high-stakes assessment, helping 2e students master complex requirements without the cost of burnout.
Session rate: $225/hour for regular and one-off sessions (subject to availability).
Within school hours: $175/hour for lessons between 10am and 2pm on weekdays during NSW public school terms (subject to availability).
Additional work: Work requested outside sessions, such as marking or reviewing student papers or commissioned research, is billed separately at $175/hour (subject to availability).
Croydon rooms: No travel fee.
Inner West: $75 travel fee per session. Roughly bounded by Lidcombe, Pyrmont, Gladesville and Bexley North.
Up to one hour outside the Inner West: Travel fees quoted on request. More often available for one-off sessions; rarely available weekly.
Interstate or international: In-person meetings by arrangement, with additional charges and conditions agreed individually.
I strongly recommend an additional non-contact preparation hour to review your child's documents before we meet so that your family can utilise our time together as efficiently as possible.
Preparation fee: $175 for one hour of document review (subject to availability).
Total if chosen: $400 for preparation and a one-hour standard or one-off first session, or $350 for preparation and a one-hour school-hours first session. Travel fees are additional, if applicable.
